Bloch leotards come in three different categories  (as is the case with the “seperates”), basic, performance and fashion and for each of these categories there are options for girls although not quite the choice as there is for women, and for men I’m afraid they’ll just have to do without.

Bloch Leotards Fabric

Bloch leotards are made in most cases from a blend of nylon and spandex. Spandex is a synthetic “stretchy” product invented in 1959 and it’s foremost quality is that it expands, which as an anagram gives us it’s name, spandex. Although in Britain it’s largely referred to by the brand name, lycra and in other European countries, elastane. The mix of fabric in the making of leotards is normally around 88% nylon and 12% spandex and they come in a variety of colours and with a very large choice of designs like the beautiful “Aolani” the ladies rouleaux lattice back leotard from the fashion section or the subtle “Kina” with a twist cap sleeve. Then there is the constant bestseller, the “Cleopatra”, a ladies corsette seamed camisole leotard which is made from 87% tactel for extra softness and 13% spandex. Tactel being used instead of nylon is one of the exceptions in fabric blend although tactel and nylon are similar, tests agree that tactel is twice as soft as most other fibers and 20 percent lighter, but still maintaining having a strength that is surprising.
From the “performance” range of apparel the “Liani” is a ladies camisole leotard with gather at the front and back which comes in 5 sizes including extra large (only in black) and 7 colours. It is a delicate but tough garment being made from tactel 87% and spandex 13%. The model, Playa, is a robust leotard made from 88% dritex nylon, 12% spandex perfectly suited for performance dance. Dritex nylon allows efficient wicking allowing the dancer to remain comfortably dry even when doing high energy performances. Available for girls as well as women the Playa comes in some very delicate as well as traditional colours such as candy pink, blue radiance, china red, dark blue, purple and black.

What’s great is these leotards can easily be mix and matched with the variety of tops, shorts, pants, skirts and accessories that can be seen in the seperates category of Bloch dancewear products.

In the “basics” range of leotards where the stress of high powered performance is not predominant most of the garments such as the beautiful and delicate “Allegro” are made from a combination of cotton (90%) and spandex (10%). The “Allegro” comes in 11 colours from white to black. As you would expect there is the largest selection of leotards for girls in the “basics” range from the classic pretty Desdemona in delicate colours to the Bloch best seller (Bloch buster), “Sherbert” which is available in sizes from 2 to 14 with a pretty cross back and cap sleeve.

Bloch leotards are ever evolving and new poducts and trendy designs are coming to the market all the time for all types of students of dance. Talking of trendy designs Bloch shoes and especially Bloch dance sneakers are a great accompaniment to the rest of Bloch’s apparel.
